florfenicol, fluorinated synthetic analog of thiamphenicol, is a widely used synthetic broad-spectrum antibiotic, which is active against many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria isolated from animals. it inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomal subunits of susceptible bacteria, leading to the inhibition of peptidyl transferase and thereby preventing the transfer of amino acids to growing peptide chains and subsequent protein formation. florfenicol premix manufactured by great bio applies microcapsule technology, and florfenicol molecule could be capsuled by polyacrylic resin and enteric-soluble material thereby to ensure florfenicol could be absorbed efficiently by oral administration. compared with traditional florfenicol powder, micro-capsuled florfenicol premix does not possess any irritating taste and smell, while active ingredient is controlled-released from microcapsules into tissues with a good penetration.
florfenicol is currently indicated for the treatment of swine respiratory disease, such as actinobacillus pleuropneumonia (app), porcine respiratory disease complex（prdc）and mgcoplasma pneumonial (mh), bovine respiratory disease, associated with mannheimia (pasteurella) haemolytica, pasteurella multocida, and haemophilus somnus, and for treatment of other diseases that caused by microorganisms found sensitive to this compound.
